Virginia gets stunned in first round

First round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament 12th seed FGCU Eagles faced off against the 5th

seed Virginia Tech Hokies. This game has been a neck to neck battle. VT C Elizabeth Kitley in

the first half was dominant inside the paint against FGCU's smaller front court. Kitley led all

scorers with 16 pts 4 rebs, which wasn't stopping the Eagles.

The Eagles were relentless and held the Hokies to a 40-39 lead into the half. Eagles guards Kerstie Phills, Kierstan Bell and Tishara Morehouse in the second half displayed a fierce performance to maintain control over this battle.

Yes this game did go back and forth but it just seemed that FGCU wanted more than

Virginia Tech even the band. In the end after a hard fought battle from both teams FGCU came

out victorious, upsetting Virginia Tech 84-81. FGCU will go on to the second round in the

Women’s NCAA Tournament, the madness continues.
