Los Angeles- The Queens Gambit who won the heart of millions will be turned into a future musical.


Level Forward has acquired the theatrical stage rights to Walter Tevis’ novel The Queens Gambit and will invest in making the series come to life in a musical sense.


“It is a privilege for Level Forward to lead the charge of bringing ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ to the stage through the beloved and enduring craft of musical theater,” said Level Forward CEO Adrienne Becker and producer Julia Dunetz.


“Told through a brave and fresh point of view, audiences are already sharing in the friendship and fortitude of the story’s inspiring women who energize and sustain Beth Harmon’s journey and ultimate triumph. The story is a siren call amidst our contemporary struggles for gender and racial equity, and we’re looking forward to moving the project forward.”


The Queen's Gambit is about an orphan named Beth Harmon, who was intrigued with a janitor, who loved to play chess. Harmon became obsessed with learning how to play the game. After she was successful with beating her mentor, he decided to get her involved with some tournaments. After destroying her competition, Beth's fame started to grow and she started becoming a household name.


The movie is about a woman fighting for the chance to live out her dream and be a representation and reflection for other women to overcome obstacles, as well as have the same equal treatment and respect as a male.
