Los Angles- On Sunday, Kirk Franklin virtually hosted the 35th Stellar Gospel Awards, as well as won six awards for the night.

The 35th Stellar Gospel Awards was different in a sense because it was virtual. The event produced some encouraging words, uplifting performances, and in Franklin's perspective something that the world needed right now. At the end of the night, Franklin walked away with Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, Producer of the Year, Contemporary Male Vocalist of Year, Contemporary Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. He was very grateful that he won in all those categories and praised God and his fans.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard won two trophies for Artist of the Year and Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year for her project Heart, Passion, Pursuit. Le'Andria Johnson earned two awards for her work on Donald Lawrence's project, Goshen in the categories Albertina Walker Female Vocalist of the Year Award and the Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year. The Walls Group received two statues for Duo Group of the Year.

The awards were a celebration to first responders, as well as the Black Lives Matter Movement, as Franklin and other gospel artists thanked them for their work and helping people in their community.
