More women added to the Tokyo Olympics Board

New York- After sexist comments from former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori, newly hired President of the committee Seiko-Hashimoto has add more women to the committee.

Mori decided to step down as Olympic President of the Tokyo committee after he made sexist comments about women talk too much in meetings. After he stepped down, Hashinmoto was appointed president and decided that inclusion and diversity needed to happen. She has hired 12 more women to help plan out the Olympics.

“Regarding the promotion of gender equality, we believe that it is necessary to work with a sense of speed and produce solid results in order to restore the trust in the organizing committee,” Hashimoto said at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The Tokyo Olympics are facing a lot of criticism with moving forward with the Olympics instead of postponing it and Hashinmoto is trying to ensure athletes, as well as the public that they are doing everything in their power to ensure everyone is safe during the games.

As for right now, the Olympics will start July 23, 2021.
