Lucy Liu new film The Pirate Queen will premiere during Tribeca Film Festival


Iconic actress Lucy Lui has produced a new film called The Pirate Queen, which will be showcased during the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival.


The Pirate Queen is based on Cheng Shih, who is the most successful pirate in history. If people did not know, Shih displayed a lot of heart as well as determination to become a pirate that people adored and admired.

“I’m really excited to be working alongside Eloise to bring new life to a forgotten story about Cheng Shih – a fascinating woman, who with incredible resilience and tenacity, became a powerful pirate leader during the Qing Dynasty," said Lucy Liu. "This project marks the first time I embody a character through immersive storytelling and I’m honored to join forces with Singer Studios to share this historical narrative with a potentially new and expanded audience.”

The film can be seen during the festival June 9 - 17
